Mainers live for the fall season in New England. With delicious scents of cinna- mon and nutmeg in the air, we know it is time to break out our favorite sweat- ers. With cool temps and quiet streets, let us show you why fall is the best time to visit Maine!
Your 9-day itinerary starts at Fore Points Marina in Portland. Prepare for an authentic and spirited Maine experience complete with craft beer, comfort food, and white glove service.
Day 1: Portland
Arrive via MacAir FBO at Portland International Jetport and within minutes be settling into your new yacht accommodations.
Your enthusiastic yacht crew will greet you with a fall inspired lunch menu. After your lunch, head up to Freeport for some shopping and to see the world renowned Bean Boot at L.L. Bean. Be sure to snap a photo with the Bootmobile.
In the evening, dine at one of Portland’s hottest Farm to Table restaurants. Try Twelve Restaurant’s modern New England Prix Fixe menu with Award Winning Chef Colin Wyatt from 3 Michelin Star Eleven Madison Park. Pro Tip: Go in with an open mind, and don’t forget to ask about the flavor of their rotating ice cream bar!
Day 2: Portland
Start your day sipping on apple cider mimosas on your sun deck while being pampered by the specialists of Health Resonates. Choose from an array of services including a full energy work up - through polarity therapy or reiki, reflexology mas- sage, facials, or a simple foot soak. You can also visit their charming in-town location for more op- tions.
Replenish with a nutrient packed smoothie then hop on the tender for a round of golf on Che- beague Island. Non-golfers can hit the tennis courts or simply head up to the Inn for cocktails on the beautiful lawn overlooking Casco Bay.
Tonight, you eat bold Mediterranean flavors and Maine food at Evo Kitchen & Bar putting an uncon- ventional twist on traditional fare. Chef Ginn is a two-time champion on Food Network’s Chopped. Should you like, try the vegan tasting menu or re- quest a vegan version of any dish.
Day 3: Boothbay Harbor
Your next destination is the charming village of Boothbay Harbor where you will experience the main attraction, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. This is the largest public garden in the coun- try; you will want a full day to explore.
Have a nice long walk through the gardens to absorb the scents, colors and beauty of your sur- roundings. Go ahead - release your inner child and play around in the falling leaves
In the early evening, stroll around the waterfront village and be sure to mingle with the locals indulging in a rooftop cocktail at the popular Boathouse Bistro.
Day 4: Boothbay Harbor
Catch first light as you tender over to Mon- hegan Island. Grab breakfast at the Inn, stroll around the town, and head down to one of the beaches.
Monhegan is a photographer’s haven, so be sure to have your camera handy or simply take a seat on a bench to absorb the relaxing scen- ery.
Back on the mainland, take a tour and slurp fresh oysters at Glidden Point Oyster Farm - One of Maine’s premier oyster producers. Learn more about sustainable fishing and the rise of the oyster industry while sipping a perfectly paired glass of wine.
*Boothbay Harbor (32NM from Rockland) is a beautiful and quaint mid-Maine stop- ping point between Casco Bay and Penobscot Bay. It offers low-lying islands, prom- ontories off the mainland, and pockets of water that beckon exploration as well as idyllic flat waters for sailing. The relaxed camaraderie of the locals and lobstermen will make you feel like a native.
Day 5: Bar Harbor
47,000 acres of ocean, forests, lakes, and mountains is the landscape of Acadia National Park. Today, we hop on bicycles. Choose a vigorous 20-mile bike loop up Cadillac Mountain on a speedy road bike or stay closer to sea level with a mountain bike as you tour the groomed carriage trails. Stop at White Sand Beach and, for those adventurous enough, jump in for a swim!
After this invigorating excursion, quench your thirst at The Reading Room at the Bar Harbor Inn. Then, spend the evening strolling the town, or pop into a show - try Improv Acadia for some good local laughs.
*Bar Harbor is a town on Mount Desert Island along Maine’s Frenchman Bay. It serves as a gateway to the mountains and cliffs of neighboring Acadia National Park. Towering the park, Cadillac Mountain has trails and views of the town, bay and Cranberry Islands. From the town pier, the Shore Path winds along the bay overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Porcupine Islands.
Day 6: Bar Harbor
Take the morning to sleep in or opt for a private massage onboard your yacht. For brunch, your chef will immerse you in every flavor that represents fall in New England. While the mornings are crisp enough for a sweater and a warm beverage, it will warm up around noon.
After being completely refreshed, get ready to experience the island from above with Scenic flights of Acadia. This thrilling helicopter tour gives a unique perspective on the National Park, lighthouses, and Somes Sound. Settle back on the yacht for a relaxing dinner, and a classic wild Maine bluebery dessert.
Day 7 - Rockland
As you travel back towards Portland, you will stop at the charming mid-coast village of Rockland. Dock at Journey’s End, a family-owned marina adjacent to Main Street.
Visit the Breakwater Lighthouse and Owls Head Transportation Museum - full of vintage vehicles and historic aircraft. After you have worked up an appetite, pop into the nearby breweries to sam- ple fresh fall inspired brews. (Pumpkin anything is suggested!)
Stroll through town before dinner at the La Bella Vita located at the Samoset Resort. Known for their fine dining and fresh ingredients, you will in- dulge yourself on mouth watering Italian inspired dishes with a well curated wine list.
day 8 -Portland
Experience the Old Port’s rich history with a docent on a walking culinary tour. Your guide will take you to and explain various landmarks and monuments while you sip, slurp, and snack your way around the city.
Take advantage of the warm weather in the afternoon by exploring the many shops on Exchange Street. Once your appetite is back, hop on a tender for a Lobster Bake dinner on House Island. Take in the views of Casco Bay while the sun sets on the City of Portland as you settle in for movie night.
